With Expert Review, one of our tax experts will review your return with you over the phone, before you file. Not only will the tax expert review your return in detail and answer all your questions but they’ll help you optimize your credits and deductions, so you get the most out of your return. You’ll even get personalized tax-saving suggestions to use this year and in the future!

Need more time after your first call? Book as many calls as you need to make sure your return is accurate and error-free.

  1. From within the H&R Block’s 2020 tax software, choose the Expert Review service.
  2. Book your appointment online at a time that's convenient for you. Once you’ve booked your appointment, we ask that you don’t make any further changes to your return, so that we can give you the best experience possible!
  3. Before your call, a tax expert will review your return and your tax scenario, to look for errors and tax-saving opportunities.
  4. At the time of the call, your tax expert will contact you based on the information you provided when you booked your service.
  5. Your tax expert will provide their recommendations and answer your questions.

You can purchase your preferred Expert Review service by clicking the Support link in the header of H&R Block’s 2020 tax software. You'll see this link once you've entered your personal information and selected your software package (i.e. FREE , ASSISTANCE, or PROTECTION).

To purchase your review:

  1. Click the Support link in the header of the H&R Block 2020 tax software.
  2. Under Get your return reviewed by a tax expert, click Learn More.
  3. Click Buy Now under Expert Review.
  4. Enter your payment information. After you have entered your payment information, you’ll receive an email confirmation of your purchase with a link to book your expert review.
  5. Click the Book your Expert Review link in the email, you’ll be taken to our third-party provider (Coconut) to book your review service.

    Note: Make sure you select the correct time zone when booking your review.

  6. Once you have successfully booked your review, you will receive a confirmation email with the date and time of your review.

    We ask that you don’t make any further changes to your return after you’ve booked your appointment, so that we can give you the best experience possible!

Important: If you want to reschedule or cancel your review, you’ll need to do so at least 48 hours before your appointment.

To reschedule or cancel your review:

  1. In your confirmation email, click Manage Appointment.



  2. When you arrive at this page, click Reschedule or Cancel Appointment to make changes to your appointment.



You can find the link to Book your Expert Review under the My Purchases page in the software. Simply click the My Purchases page link in the left-hand sidebar of the software, and use the link you find under your Expert Review purchase.
