Warning: T4 box 26 needs box 16 or 17

You’ll see the following warning message in H&R Block’s 2020 tax software if, while entering your information on the T4 page, you entered an amount in box 26 (CPP/QPP pensionable earnings), but not in box 16 (Employee’s CPP contributions) or box 17 (Employee’s QPP contributions):

You should have an amount in box 16 (Employee’s CPP contributions) or box 17 (Employee’s QPP contributions) on the T4 page, because you entered an amount in box 26 (CPP/QPP pensionable earnings). Make sure you entered all the amounts shown on the T4 slip. [warning]

 

How do I fix this?

Return to the T4 page and enter an amount in box 16 or box 17, as shown on your T4 slip.

Note: The T4 page is on the QUICK ENTRY tab under the SMART SEARCH icon. Under the Your federal slips section, click Edit in the T4 row to edit your information.
